The department has five labs namely Microwave Lab and MATLAB, Microprocessor & Microcontroller Lab, Digital ICs Lab, Analog & Digital Communication Lab and Electronic Circuits Lab. All the labs are fully equipped to meet the academic curriculum and the present day technology.

Microwave Lab & MAT Lab

This lab caters to the final year students of ECE department. The lab includes systems, with MATLAB 8.0 version installed in all the systems. It has two benches of microwave components namely Gunn diode and Klystron. The lab also includes a fiber optic kit wherein demonstration experiments regarding fiber optic communication can be performed.

Analog & Digital Communication Lab

Analog and Digital Communication experiments which are studied in two different academic semesters are performed in this lab. In this lab each work table having CRO, signal generators, function generators and power supply kits needed to perform any kind of analog and digital communication experiments.

Micro Processors & Micro Controllers Lab

The lab each worktable having a microprocessor 8086 kit and microcontroller 8051 kits. The lab also boasts of interfacing kits for microcontroller and microprocessors like keyboards, ADC and DAC kits, etc.

Electronic Circuit Lab

The lab has nine work tables to accommodate four students per table. Each worktable includes power supply (single and dual), OPAMP power supply, function generator and CROs, needed to perform basic electronic experiments with transistors, diodes, etc. In this lab experiments using linear ICs like OPAMP and IC 555 timers can also be performed.

Digital IC Lab

This lab includes nine worktables to accommodate four students per table. Each work table has digital IC trainer kits. The lab includes digital IC trainer kits, Digital IC tester, CROs and function generators.

The major driving force for the present day Information Technology revolution is the development in Electronics Engineering. The advancements in microelectronics, satellite and optical fiber technology, analog and digital in communication techniques have resulted in developing complex electronics devices, circuits and equipments capable of implementing fast and efficient telecommunication systems. Real time transfer of audio and video signals is now possible with recent trends in broad band technologies. Penetration of electronics has now revolutionalised other areas like health care, instrumentation, automation, remote sensing, signal processing etc.

The basic principles and performance of electronic devices and circuits are introduced in the course. Design and analysis of different analog and digital circuits are considered in detail. Different analog and digital modulation techniques used for communication, equipments and systems involved in wireless communications, satellite and optical communication technologies, computer communication and networking, design and development of microelectronic circuits for computation and processing, components and systems for electronic instrumentation and control etc,. form major content of the course. The course also covers the study of hardware and interfacing of computer systems, programming skills and application of computers in signal processing and communication.

Internal Assessments

Two series tests are conducted per semester. Besides this four assignment tests are conducted during the semester. Sessional marks are assigned to the students based on their performance in various assignment test papers and regularity in the classes.
